Heavenly, "Atta Girl"/"Dig Your Own Grave"/"So?" (Sarah)

by Charles Aaron

Heavenly's pugnacious, underground-pop "naivete" is a contrived reality just like the do-or-die nihilism of gangsta rap or the global starfuck of U2. Question is, do we wanna visit this cutie-pie "reality," where grown-ups act like 12-year-olds with grown-up problems? (Why not? Sounds a lot like real life to me.) And on these three kiss-off songs, Amelia Fletcher,singer-guitarist-wearer of barrettes, doesn't dilly-dally, enunciating her breakup pain with scary clarity. Sarah, Box 691, Bristol, U.K. BS99 1FG
